Best Elecony Bike Review in 2023

Elecony Bike Review – Top 3 Bikes Out There & What to Expect From Them

Unless you’re a professional cyclist competing all over the world, chances are you don’t need the most expensive bike in the world.

But then, you don’t want a terrible whip either. Let’s face it, no one wants to ride on a bike with three or four speeds, no extras for convenience, or a flimsy frame.

If you’re like me, you want value for money. You want a good bike with some nice features, but without costing you a fortune.

The good news is you do have options. The bad news is unless you try out different bikes, you won’t really know what to expect.

There are plenty of brands out there, with a few front runners, of course. From personal experience, I can tell you that brand name accounts for about 25% of the price, so don’t always let that influence your decision.

Instead, my best bet is in the middle range. Basically, I’d rather go for a brand with a good reputation, bikes with great features, no fancy bells and whistles that no one ever uses, and, of course, good value for money.

Elecony checks all these. Whether you’re after an Elecony mountain bike or perhaps an Elecony electric bike, you do have a bit of variety.

All in all, here are the best products in its range based on my “test drives”.

Note: In this Elecony bike review, I won’t just reveal the top 3 bikes, but also the best place to buy them with multiple benefits.

1. But first, a few words about Elecony

Elecony bikes are sold by Newegg. Established in 2001, Newegg has mostly specialized in electronics. The company dominated the electronic commerce sector for a while before expanding its range and adopting the Elecony brand too.

There are more brands under its portfolio, with Elecony being the most recognizable one in terms of fitness and outdoor activities.

The bike range is not impressive, with less than 10 models released so far. I know, it feels like Elecony is just getting into the industry, and there’s plenty of improvement to do, but that shouldn’t put you off.

Implementing modern technologies and putting quality first, you’re likely to be impressed.

I’ve tried out Trek, Kona, and even Cannondale bikes… Trust me when I say you’ll get the exact same experience. Features are similar, bikes are solid and well made, while the brand is not as famous as others.

Exactly! That means the price is quite low, so the value for money is excellent.

Now, like I said before, there aren’t many bikes in Elecony’s range. I’ve had the opportunity to try all of them, so this Elecony bike review will give you my top recommendations.

3. My Picks – Top 3 Elecony Bikes

3.1 Elecony Mountain Bike

The Elecony mountain bike comes in a few different sizes, so make sure you know what types of wheels you want. It’s got a solid 17 inch aluminum frame, so it’s pretty lightweight and suitable for both newbies and experienced riders.

Elecony A29143 29 Inch Aluminum Mountain Bike
Elecony A29143 29 Inch Aluminum Mountain Bike – 6 – A29143 BLACK-

Brakes won’t let you down, you’ve got mechanical disc brakes on both wheels. There’s nothing to be worried about, I could brake safely in muddy conditions, slippery conditions, and even while going down the hill.

If you thought Elecony keeps prices low by sacrificing quality, you’re wrong. Like bikes from more expensive brands, this one comes with the RS35 21 speed shifter from Shimano, as well as the TZ500/TY200 derailleur from the same company.

The bike is flexible and allows jumping with no problems as well, easy steering, corners, you name it.

Now, since mountain biking implies a few jumps here and there, you probably wonder about its suspension. No problems there whatsoever!

The full suspension will absorb shocks with no problems at all. Besides, the front fork has a professional design to absorb most of the impact. It’s the type of bike that can make a bumpy trail feel much smoother.

This Elecony mountain bike is for?

If you like going to the fields or taking on trails, this bike’s for you. It’s not an Elecony fat tire bike, so it’s also suitable for clear terrains.

You’ll have a smooth ride going around parks too, but it can’t compete against high-speed bikes due to the tire width. Since there are more sizes for wheels, it’s suitable for kids and grownups, men and women.

Pros

  • Excellent value for money
  • More sizes for wheels
  • Superior braking system
  • Great suspension
  • Lightweight aluminum frame

Cons

  • Not available in too many colors

3.2 Elecony Nunu-T100 Fat Tire Bike

The Elecony fat tire bike couldn’t be missed from my Elecony bike review, and I’ll let you know why. Obviously, I haven’t tried it myself because it’s mostly aimed at kids.

Elecony E20178 Folding Electric Bicycle
Elecony E20178 Folding Electric Bicycle 2 – E20178 GREY

It’s one of the most popular bikes you’ll see dumped on the grass verge while kids are playing around, so I’m guessing there must be something special about it.

First, it looks great. I know, kids will usually make a decision based on the looks, rather than performance. But don’t let the good looks fool you because this Elecony fat tire bike comes with some of the best features you can think of.

The frame is made of high carbon steel. It can take some heavy duty beating, which is how most kids treat their bikes. It’s ergonomic and offers good resistance to wear and tear.

Shimano gearing ensures your kid is safe and can adjust speeds accordingly. There are seven speeds.

Given the fat tire design, the bike won’t go incredibly fast on clear terrain. Also, it’s useful and easy to maneuver on trails and tracks. The 135mm suspension system is great for bumps and comfort too.

In terms of braking, the bike has a double mechanical disc system, which is both safe and reliable.

It’s not fully assembled, but it can be done in 20 minutes. How do I know? I’ve helped assemble a couple of them on my road. The bike’s sturdy, solid, and will pass the test of time.

This Elecony Nunu bike is for?

It’s suitable for both boys and girls older than six.

Pros

  • Quality design
  • Durable materials
  • Reliable braking system
  • Shimano parts
  • Comes in more colors

Cons

  • Pedals feel a bit weak

3.3 Elecony Fat Tire Electric Bike

Don’t feel like pedaling? I know the feeling. Whether it comes to going to work or just having a stroll in the middle of nowhere, you don’t always feel like sweating. Instead, you’d rather enjoy the wind on your face and keep dry.

S20109 Elecony 20 Inch Fat Tire Bike – 0 – W110650943

This Elecony electric bike won’t let you down. If you’re into electric bikes, you know what to look for first. The battery! You’ve got a 36V 12.5Ah Lithium-ion battery, giving you up to 50 miles per charge.

Now, that’s what Elecony claims, but you’ll get to 50 miles in ideal conditions, such as straight and clear roads, with no hills. If you’re going up hills or down to the beach, the realistic range is around 40 to 45 miles. Going through sand will obviously put some strain on the battery.

The 350W motor is powerful and can push you up to 20MPH. You have 20 inch fat tires, so you’ll never feel any road imperfections. It feels like you’re riding on a highway.

As for more technical stuff, there are super powerful dual disc brakes for reliability, as well as a seven speed TS38-7R shifter for more control. The frame is based on aluminum and alloy steel, so there are no issues with its durability.

The Elecony fat tire bike is for?

This bike is excellent for commuting, whether to work or to see your friends. It’s great if you don’t like sweating or if you love sightseeing in your area. It’s got a great range and a pretty high speed too, so it’s suitable in all conditions. Given the fat tires, it’s great for off road terrains too.

Pros

  • Good battery lifespan
  • Speeds up to 20MPH
  • Suitable for all kinds of terrains
  • Looks good
  • Great control

Cons

  • Going uphill or riding off road will reduce the battery life

Now, I believe my Elecony bike review should give you a pretty good idea about the brand and its products. It’s solid, reliable, and offers high quality prices at affordable prices.

4. The question is, where do you get a bike from?

Since it’s not Trek, Kona, or Merida, you won’t find Elecony in every local bike store, so you’ll most likely need to do it online, like most of us. You’ll find quite a few different places, and if you’re like most people, you’ll probably want a shop that you’ve heard of.

Amazon is a top choice for a lot of people, and luckily, Elecony bikes are available on it. The problem with Amazon is that it keeps reselling products that are sent back because of different defects.

Looking through the reviews on Elecony bikes, I’ve noticed that most of the negative ones are given because of Amazon and not because of the actual bikes. Basically, they come from people who received products with obvious defects or signs of wear and tear.

It’s disappointing because personally, I often buy stuff based on the overall rating. And sometimes, a bad rating is not because of a product but because of Amazon.

But the good news is you don’t need to worry as I’ve one solid alternative to buy the above Elecony bikes, and I’ve done the research and compared prices with multiple stores so you can make the best purchase.

5. Best place to buy Elecony bikes

Other shops are more likely to sell brand new products in order to keep their reputation clean. Health & Smart Homes is one of them. Specialized in accessories and stuff for a healthy lifestyle, Elecony bikes just couldn’t miss from it.

And then, small shops will also come up with all kinds of special offers in order to compete against large retail giants. Here are the benefits you will get if you buy from Health & Smart Homes:

  • Free shipping
  • Fast shipping
  • Lower prices
  • Buy now, pay later with Klarna

I know I said Elecony bikes offer good value for money, but what if you can’t really afford one right now? What if your budget is limited or something else came up?

You’re probably familiar with these offers, they’re quite common today. Buy now, pay later, whether in three months or six months or maybe more. They’re offered to keep us spending, and they often come with no interest.

Klarna is probably the most popular choice when it comes to online shopping. You can normally split the price of your Elecony electric bike or mountain bike over four payments, every few weeks or so. It depends on the deal you ask for.

You’ll get all these on the checkout page.

6. FAQs – Elecony Bike Review

Still undecided about the best Elecony bike?

Can the Elecony electric bike be left in the rain?

Yes. In fact, modern electric bikes can be left in the rain without worrying about circuits facing any problems. On the same note, you can ride the Elecony electric bike in the rain. After all, there’s always a risk of getting caught in the rain, so most manufacturers offer great protection here.

Is it harder to ride the Elecony fat tire bike?

Fat tires are broader than regular tires. Unless you go for the Elecony electric bike, pedaling will be a bit more challenging. But then, there are many benefits too. You’ll have better traction, more stability, and less rolling resistance. Plus, fat tires are great if you’re not riding on clear roads or highways.

What size bike wheel is for adults?

The 29-inch or 700c size is by far one of the most common sizes for adults. However, different people have different sizes. Someone who’s six foot tall will obviously require larger wheels than someone who’s less than five feet.

Is Elecony A Good Bike?

There is no one answer to whether or not Elecony is a good bike. Every cyclist has their own personal preferences and requirements, so what may be perfect for one cyclist may not be perfect for another.

Who Makes Elecony Bikes?

Elecony Bikes is a manufacturer of electric and pedal-assist bicycles. It operates a factory in Tianjin (China) under a separate company.

7. It’s your turn now

I hope my Elecony bike review will help you decide. I know, there are lots of options out there and numerous bikes, but it’s hard to find something that offers great features at a good price, unless you pay the premium for famous brands.

Whether you’re after an Elecony mountain bike or perhaps an electric alternative, make sure it’s got what you need in a bike, and you won’t be disappointed.
